dtr003 Deepsrof - Live at Kc Belgie
The third release of Deepsrof. This is the first live record we have made so far. It was recorded on 8 march 2008 at Kunstencentrum Belgie. We had a good friend, Jonathan Manes, playing with us that night. The set up was Alessio on bass, Jonathan on percussion, didgeridoo, xylophone and me on guitar. There were candles all over the stage, what made the show more mysterious than ever.
The record starts slow with some guitar noise and psyhadelic stuff, well it was psyhadelic all night… Suddenly after a couple of minutes the music bursts out into a cosmos of bass, guitar and percussion. As from minute 5.23 the tempo slows down a bit. The xylophone played by Jonathan takes you to another dimension. This is a great opportunity to close your eyes, sit back and just listen to the sounds.
On 9.20 minutes we make subtle change and have a personal interpretation of a couple of songs. It is to you to recognize them… At the moment I am listening to this part and I still don’t know how we came up on this, but it sounds cool to me! All this lasts until the 20th minute.
This part of the live show is a reprise from the begin of the show. We also play one more rendition of a song. The live show cruises out at top speed, Jonathan beating so hard the toms almost catch fire. The show fades out with a subtle change to a more melancholic guitar sound.
