It has been a while now. I was quiet busy lately, I am still but that’s no excuse I know. I have selected a few links I’ll like to share with you.

First I want to say that the Gentle didn’t win the finals of Limbomania 09. I really hoped they would manage to finish first, second or third. Okay secretly I hoped that they would finish first! Who doesn’t. You can watch their full perfomance right here.

There is no doubt that music effects our mood and concentration. There is a theory, since the 90s, that links music with intelligence. “The Mozart Effect” has the most attention of all. I don’t know if it’s true or if it works. You can always give it a try, maybe with some Black Sabbath tunes… Anyways you can read the whole article here.

The Dead Weather baby

Last sunday Alessio and I decided to go to Köln. From our place almost two hours driving. We knew that The Dead Weather was playing in Köln, but we couldn’t manage to buy some tickets. Anyways we decided to take our chance and drive all the way to Germany.

Together with a couple of friends we arrived in Köln not knowing if there would still be some tickets available. It was all exciting, so when we arrived at the venue we went straight to the tickets sale. We were lucky there were still some tickets available and yeah!! we made it. The show was amazing. The best show I have seen this year.

But not to forget! Creature with the atom brain played befor them and they were rockin too! I’ve seen this guys a couple of times and never get bored listening to them.

The Gentle in Limbomania finals

Oh yes this is it! Last saturday they announced the 10 finalists for Limbomania. A great relief for Alessio, Kevin, Jonathan and Marco because The Gentle was selected for the finals. You should definitely check this band out at the finals (where are you waiting for! c’mon). Navigate you a way to the Limbomania website and explore it all by yourself.

Alessio, one-half of DTR, the less active part of it, is now going to be very active! My first post is about The Gentle.
I’m the drummer for this band and we are contributing in Limbomania and we played the first semifinal and the people who saw us really enjoyed the show, the newspapers even wrote that we were one of the better bands of the night (Limbolink) Check us out and hopefully we’ll see everybody back in the finals! Big up for The Powerkrauts!

The Beatles are bigger than Jezus!

It was back in March 1966 that John Lennon said that the Beatles were bigger than Jezus. Angry Beatles fans burned their records, protested,… John Lennon had to apoligise for his statement. Well John, you were right! After more than 40 years there is proof that his statement was correct. It’s funny, in Google trends you can compare search terms. For example: Jezus, Beatles. On an island

It’s called “On an island” and it was released on 6th March 2006. I want to show you today 3 movies from the Abbey Road Studio. The songs are really amazing! This guy still rocks. One song, one take, one cab

I would like to introduce you to the Black cab sessions. This project exists a while now. I regulary check it on new sessions. Like the post title says, musicians or bands do one song in one take in one cab. It’s a cool concept. Maybe we should have something like this here in Belgium, any volunteers?

The people behind the Black cab sessions say they aren’t picky about genre and will happily open the cab door to anyone who blows them away. Time for some noise in the cab than! It is also always funny to see other drivers faces when they notice musicians playing their tunes in the back of a cab. Anyways, I have collected a few sessions below. Movie soundtracks can be so beautiful, well not only the soundtracks but also other songs or compositions used in movies. Last week I was watching The Illusionist and the compositions used in this movie are so amazing. It is also the first item in the list below.

While writing this post I had to think at a scene with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore in the head roles. It is such a silly song, oh man but it is catchy for a few seconds… I don’t want to damage my image.
